"LE" stands for "Limited Edition." Limited Edition means we will only make a specific number of the item, and each piece is laser engraved with its number in the series. The edition size is listed in the product details; for example, an item may be a limited edition of 10. If you are the third person to order, your item will be marked "LE 3/10" on the back, indicating its place in the series.
Our prices reflect the exceptional quality and craftsmanship that go into every piece we create. Each item is hand-crafted, hand-sanded, hand-finished, hand-stained, and hand-painted in our Missouri workshop using only the finest domestic and exotic hardwoods sourced from trusted USA suppliers. We exclusively use made-in-USA stains and oils from MinWax and paints from DecoArt to ensure durability and a beautiful finish. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, our products are typically larger, thicker, and meticulously made, with every detail carefully inspected before shipping. We do not purchase bulk materials from overseas, resell prefabricated items, or use vinyl labels or stickers—every piece is precision carved and finished by our small, family-owned business. We value every order and are committed to delivering outstanding quality and customer satisfaction.

311 is our all-time favorite band! We’re proud Excitables, part of the band’s passionate fan community known as The Excitable Crew, and we love crafting and collecting all sorts of 311 merch. Whenever we attend 311 shows, we bring handcrafted items to share as gifts with fellow fans—it’s our way of spreading the unity and positivity that 311 stands for. Their uplifting message and creative energy inspire so much of what we do here, both in and out of the workshop. If you haven’t checked out 311 yet, we highly recommend giving them a listen or catching a show! With over 30 years in the music scene, they’re an amazing band worth discovering.
We don’t have set production hours—our workshop runs on passion, not a clock! We dedicate as many hours each week as possible to our craft, working late into the night or whenever inspiration strikes to ensure every piece meets our high standards. This flexibility allows us to pour extra care and attention into every item we create.
You can contact us any time 24/7 every day of the year from our website's Contact Us page. We monitor our office phone 9:00AM through 5:00PM M-F. If we don't answer, please leave a message and we'll get back to you.
We use only the finest domestic and exotic hardwoods in our workshop, ensuring exceptional quality for every piece. Some of the high-quality woods we work with include oak, maple, cherry, walnut, mahogany, purpleheart, sapele, and many more. Each type is carefully selected for its beauty, durability, and unique characteristics to create truly remarkable handcrafted items.
We use only reputable USA suppliers to source our fine hardwoods. Our favorite supplier is Woodworkers Source, based in Arizona, USA. We also work with other trusted suppliers such as Woodcraft, along with local suppliers and lumber mills in Missouri, to ensure the highest quality materials for every project.
Yes, sometimes we use materials other than wood for special projects. For example, we use HDPE for high-quality, outdoor, weather-resistant signs, and marine-grade, high-quality laminated plywood for specific applications. We also craft edge-lit LED signs using thick, high-quality acrylic sourced from Piedmont Plastics in the USA. These materials allow us to offer durable and visually striking products tailored to your needs.
Yes, we do have a CNC—in fact, we have two CNC wood carving and engraving machines from Digital Wood Carver. While you might think that having two CNCs means we let the machines do all the work, that's definitely not the case! Alongside our CNCs, our workshop is equipped with a table saw, router table, drill press, scroll saw, jointer, planer, two benchtop power sanders, multiple hand sanders, and a wide variety of other hand tools. All these tools are essential for the handcrafted quality we deliver. To complement our equipment, we also utilize the latest technology in CAD/CAM design software from Vectric, ensuring precision and creativity in every project. Each item is hand-crafted, hand-sanded, hand-finished, hand-stained, and hand-painted in our Missouri workshop.
No, we do not make furniture, nor do we offer furniture repair services. However, in some cases, we can carve or engrave a custom design into your existing furniture. Please contact us for more information about our custom services.
We’re able to craft items in almost any size you need—from tiny pieces to very large creations. Our native table size is approximately 2 feet by 3 feet, which allows us to make most projects with ease. However, thanks to advanced tiling technology, we can create signs or items as large as a billboard by crafting multiple tiles and joining them together for a seamless final product. Don’t worry about size limitations—just let us know what you have in mind, and we’ll offer our professional advice on how to bring your vision to life!
Yes, we can handle bulk orders of any size—small, large, or even extremely large. Our production facility operates year-round to fulfill your quantity needs efficiently. With multiple carving machines and investments in high-quality, high-speed, heavy-duty equipment, we maintain a high production rate with outstanding repeatability, ensuring top-quality results on every piece in your order.
In-stock items usually ship within one to two business days after your order is placed. If your item is not in stock, it will be crafted to order and may ship in three to ten days, depending on our current production queue and the nature of your item. Large pieces and hand-painted items take longer due to extended production time, and dry-time for stain and paint. Orders are added to the queue once payment is confirmed and are completed in the order received. For bulk orders of more than ten items, shipping may take up to fourteen days to ensure quality and timely completion.
We pack and ship all orders from our facility in Missouri. Most of the time, we use UPS for delivery, but occasionally we may need to use USPS or FedEx depending on your location or specific shipping requirements. Once your order is ready to ship, you’ll receive a tracking number so you can monitor your shipment’s progress. If you need rush production or expedited shipping, please contact us as soon as you place your order—rush orders and expedited shipping will incur an additional charge, which is determined on a case-by-case basis.
We actually do offer free shipping on orders over $99. However, it's important to understand that there is no such thing as truly free shipping—major carriers like USPS, UPS, and FedEx always charge for delivery, and someone has to pay those costs. Large retailers like Amazon and Walmart can afford to absorb shipping expenses due to their scale, but as a small family-owned business, we simply can't cover shipping costs on every order. We appreciate your understanding and support, and we're committed to providing fair and transparent pricing to all our customers.
Yes, we do have an Etsy store, but it features only a very limited selection of our products. If you're curious about why we don't offer our entire catalog through Etsy, please refer to the question about our prices versus Etsy in the General Questions section of this FAQ for a detailed explanation. The best way to browse our entire catalog is in our online store on our website.
Yes, we do have an Amazon store, but it features only a limited selection of our products. While Amazon is a popular marketplace, it comes with challenges for small businesses, including restrictive return and exchange policies, limited eligibility for Prime, and higher merchant fees that can impact pricing and quality. For access to our full product catalog and the best shopping experience, we recommend visiting our own website.
Yes, you can absolutely pick up your order! We love meeting our local customers, and picking up your order is a great way to save on shipping costs and time. For your convenience, we can deliver your order to either the DeSoto Farmers Market or Mad Heifer, both located on Main Street in beautiful DeSoto, Missouri. Just let us know your preferred pickup location when placing your order, and we’ll coordinate the details with you. If you pay for shipping when you place your order and choose to pick up your order, we will refund the shipping charges you paid.
We do not offer returns. As a small family-owned business, each item is handcrafted, so we're unable to accept returns for reasons like buyer's remorse, changing your mind, or wanting something different. Unlike big retailers such as Amazon, we simply don't have the resources to process returns on our items. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for supporting our craft!
We do not offer exchanges for the same reasons we are unable to accept returns. As a small business, we simply cannot process exchanges due to reasons like buyer's remorse, changing your mind, or wanting something different. We appreciate your understanding and continued support of our handcrafted work!
We stand behind our products, even when shipping carriers are at fault. If your item arrives damaged, please contact us within 24 hours of receiving your order and let us know what happened. Be sure to include clear photos of the damage so we can quickly assess the situation. We will replace items that are damaged during shipping; however, we cannot replace items damaged by human error, such as dropping the item after it has been opened. If you are unhappy with your order for any reason, please reach out to us—we genuinely appreciate every order and every customer, and we’ll do our best to make things right.
Sometimes, what looks like a missing shipment is just a delay by the shipping carrier, so your order may still be on its way. If your package hasn’t arrived, please wait at least 30 days from the date the carrier receives your package. If it still hasn’t shown up after 30 days, reach out to us and we’ll take care of it. We’ll craft and ship a replacement at no extra charge to you. All orders are insured, and we’ll handle any claims with the carrier directly, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. Thank you for your patience and for choosing Sparky’s Woodworks!
We work hard to set realistic expectations for our customers by providing multiple high-quality images of each item from various angles, well-written and accurate item descriptions, and a bullet point summary of each item. Although we do not accept returns or exchanges, your satisfaction is important to us. If your item is less than what you expected, please reach out within 24 hours of receiving your package and let us know your concerns. We’ll do our best to make the situation right and ensure you’re happy with your purchase.

Absolutely! We love creating custom, one-of-a-kind items—whether it’s signs, decor, art, or something entirely new. Our specialty is turning your ideas into something truly unique. The design process is totally free, and we offer unlimited revisions to make sure you get exactly what you want. It’s a lot like working with an AI: you share your vision, we send drafts, and you can tweak the design until it’s perfect. There’s never any obligation to purchase after the design stage—you’re free to order when ready or simply walk away, no pressure at all.
Our custom design process is completely free and comes with unlimited revisions—there’s no obligation to make a purchase. It’s similar to working with an AI: you simply reach out to us via email and share a description of what you’re looking for, along with any helpful materials, whether that’s a rough napkin sketch, professional artwork, a product you’ve seen online, or even just a blank slate idea.
Once we receive your vision, we’ll create your first draft using our carving simulator and email it to you. From there, you’ll provide feedback, and we’ll make revisions based on your input, repeating this process until you absolutely love your item or decide to walk away—either way, there’s no pressure to buy, and your happiness is always our top priority.
Nine times out of ten, the answer is a solid yes—we use customer-provided art, including business logos, all the time to create unique custom items. Every piece of art brings its own unique challenges, and while not every design works out perfectly, we will do our very best to craft something that makes you happy. Our design process is completely free and risk-free, with unlimited revisions to get your item just right. If we can’t reach your vision, you’re free to walk away at any time without obligation. We can craft both 2D and 3D items from digital art and photographs, so feel free to share your ideas!
Most of the time, yes—we’re happy to work with customer-provided wood, as long as it’s flat and structurally sound. Unfortunately, we can’t carve wood that’s warped, rotten, or otherwise compromised, since it might break or chip during the process. If you’d like us to use your own wood, you’ll just need to sign a release of responsibility; while we treat every piece with great care, some risks like splitting or damage are unavoidable and we can’t be liable for loss. Interested in a custom carving? Reach out via email through our contact page and we’ll help you get started!
At Sparky’s Woodworks, we have two queues: a design queue and a production queue. How quickly we start designing your custom item depends on the number of requests ahead of yours in our design queue, but we can typically begin working on your design within two to three days after you give us the go-ahead. Our design process is always free and includes unlimited revisions—once you request a revision, you can usually expect to see it within one to two days. If you have a specific timetable or target date, please let us know so we can determine if we can meet your deadline. Rush orders are available; just reach out to us via email for more information.
At Sparky’s Woodworks, we have two queues: a design queue and a production queue. Custom items move from our design queue to our production queue as soon as you give final approval of your design and accept and pay the invoice for your item. When we start crafting your item depends on how many orders are ahead of you in our production queue. As soon as your spot comes up, we begin the crafting process—which starts with precision carving on one of our CNC machines. This is followed by careful sanding, hand finishing, and hand assembly if needed. After that, your item moves to our stain and paint facility, where it is hand stained and painted if required. We take pride in ensuring each piece gets the attention it deserves throughout every step of the process.
Absolutely—crafting business logo signs is one of our specialties! Not only can we create both indoor and outdoor signs using your business logo, but we also offer a wide variety of custom merchandise such as coasters, boards, bowls, trays, key chains, magnets, and more, all precision crafted with your design. Your custom items can be delivered stained only for a natural or rustic look, or we can hand paint them to match your existing color scheme for a cohesive, branded appearance.
