Every shop needs maintenance. This time, it’s my turn.

I’m preparing for surgery to replace my aorta and a heart valve—some pretty important upgrades for the guy who makes the sawdust. There isn’t a firm surgery date yet, but getting ready means making room in the shop schedule for surgery and recovery.

Sparky’s Woodworks isn’t going out of business. We’re taking a temporary break from new production so I can finish the projects already promised and give recovery the time it needs.

Our finished, in-stock pieces are still available to purchase. These are items we’ve already made, ready for their next home.

We’re not accepting new custom orders, carving additional pieces, or offering personalization right now. In-stock items are sold as shown—even designs that normally offer personalized options. Once a piece sells out, we won’t be making another until production resumes.

Browse our In-Stock collection to see what’s currently available.

You can also find a selection of our finished pieces at Contemporary Finds and Madd Heifer. Selection varies by location, so stop in and see what catches your eye!

Visit our Retail Locations page for addresses and store information.

I’m hoping to resume production in Q1 2027, but recovery gets the final say. That’s a goal, not a guaranteed reopening date, and returning to the shop may mean easing back into things.

We’ll update this page as plans become clearer. Replies to messages may take longer around surgery and recovery, and sending a custom-work inquiry won’t reserve a spot or establish a production date.

Whether you’ve bought a piece, trusted us with a custom project, shared our work, or simply cheered us on, thank you. Your support means a lot to this little woodshop—and to the people behind it.

Kathy and I appreciate your patience while we take care of these upgrades. There’s more to make and more sawdust ahead. First, a little maintenance for Sparky.

Stay positive and love your life!

Much 💙 from the shop,
—Sparky
