It's Not a Laser. It's Not a Hobby.

Howdy! Sparky here!

Someone stepped up to our booth at the DeSoto Farmers' Market on Saturday, shook their head, and said, "It seems like everyone has a laser these days."  The person working the booth at that moment gave the perfect reply... "Yes, it does.  There isn't a single thing on this table that was done with a laser."

We achieve the "laser look" with True Black wood stain from MinWax.  The stain is applied by human hand, one item a time, with a tiny paint brush.  The black stain is allowed to dry for 48 hours before the excess stain is sanded away by hand and the base color stain is applied to the entire item... by hand.  We do not use a laser to achieve this look, and we feel we do a better job and achieve a look better-than-laser by doing it by hand.

To take the point further, we do not use any stickers, vinyl, or otherwise printed and cut graphics on our items.  If our item has color, it is because made-in-USA paint from DecoArt was applied by hand by an actual human artist.  Not a Cricut, not a laser, not a printer... by hand, with a brush, by a human being.

In addition, with very rare exceptions like keychains and magnets that sell for $3 each, we do not use any plywood, pre-cut wood, wood blanks, or the like.  Our items are made from high quality domestic and exotic hardwoods sourced from top USA suppliers.  When we do use manufactured materials, they are also top-quality materials sourced from the same people we get our fine hardwoods from.  We're not selling junk, and we're not selling anything we didn't make.  Our items are not disposable.  With proper care, our items will last longer than you will.

This is what we call "Sparky's Stylee."

Lastly, Sparky's Woodworks is not a hobby.  This is my trade.  This is my full-time job.  We have a dedicated production facility with commercial/industrial-grade tools and technology, some of the best in our field.  We take what we do and our customers seriously, and we put our money where our mouth is.  Running this business requires constant training, learning, experimentation, and financial investment in tools, technology, and materials.

The fact that someone thought our work was done by a laser is a testament to our attention to detail, our commitment to precision, and our love for the craft.  This is what makes Sparky's Woodworks different.  This is why we stand apart.
